How Does Carbon Enter the Surface Ocean?
How Does Carbon Leave the Surface Ocean?
Whales can take the carbon down from the top to the bottom of the ocean. As they suck in all the plankton, they suck up water too, and take it down further and eventually, it goes back out of the whale. :)
The surrounding water where the carbon is can cool down and sink to the bottom of the ocean. Humans also, for example, fish with a giant net in a boat like in Finding Nemo, they can create a current that pulls the water down and under. Speaking of currents, natural currents can also move the carbon at the surface down. |
